Acts 2:1-8
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.”
The Feast of Pentecost is a wonderful day of celebration in the life of the church. On Pentecost we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles, the birth of the Church, and the ways in which God is still working in and through us as a diverse community!
Pentecost is one of the seven principal feasts of the liturgical year and has traditionally been seen as only second to Easter in its importance in the life of the Church. As the season of Easter comes to a close, Pentecost calls us to carry the light of the Paschal candle in our hearts as we work to be the church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, in a world in need of the light and love of Easter’s good news.
We hope that you will join your Grace community on this special day in our liturgical life as we continue to worship and break bread together (both during our services and our annual Pentecost BBQ + Picnic!) like the Apostles, and followers of Jesus on the first Pentecost!

For families with last names ending in A-L please bring a side dish, appetizer or salad. For those with last names ending M-Z please bring a dessert dish or fruit dessert. Please bring a bottle of wine or beverage along with your dish. The BBQ will be warming up during the 10 am service. You can sign up to provide food, set-up, or help cleanup HERE. There is arguably no better way to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost than by worshipping together across the divides often created by our cultural differences and native tongues.
